  1. Go to the Dashboard. And among the list of options, choose PLUGINS.
  2. When you click it, You will get some more options to choose from, click on ADD NEW.
  3. Now, in the search bar, type a name called ‘UPDRAFTPLUS‘- the plugin that we shall use for the backup process out of the many that we have. There are many plugins available, we have used Updraft as an example.
  4. After installation, you need to ACTIVATE the plugin.
  5. After activating the plugin, you need to go on the SETTINGS of the plugin and then click on BACKUP NOW.
  6. You will be seeing a prompt now, select all the options in it and then click on BACKUP.
  7. After a few minutes, the backup shall be taken and visible to you with the date along. So if you go to a tab above called EXISTING BACKUP, you can see that backup you just took.

When to restore the backup that you took?

Supposedly you just made a change in the site. Maybe the change can be an impulsive deletion of somethings that you wanted for later use. So, you can just go to the updraft for help.

  • Select the backup that you want to restore and then click on the RESTORE button.
  • Then you would be welcomed by a prompt with some checkboxes. Select them all. ANd Select RESTORE. Done!

  6. Then choose how often you want to take the backup of the website. So, give the details accordingly. We choose weekly and the other side to be 4 so that last 4-week’s backups are available.
  7. Then choose the place to save the backup out of the list of options available, say Google Drive.
  8. Then click SAVE, link your Google account, Sign in, Confirm by clicking ALLOW.
  9. Click ‘COMPLETE‘ to finish the linking. You can link your Google account so that the copy is safe in your drive. And you can use it whenever you want to.

Recovering a Crashed Site

Did your site just crash amidst the work? And why are you worried? After the automatic backup, you don’t need to worry even a bit! We’ll help you. Relax, we got this. Just follow these simple steps and restore the crashed site.

1. Uninstall the WordPress -crashed one

Depending upon the host that you use, uninstall the WordPress from the domain. This shall ensure the proper removal of the crashed site.

2. Install WordPress on the same domain

Now, install the WordPress new and fresh on the same domain. Then after installing that, you will get a fresh Dashboard. On the same domain, you should install the new WordPress. Then install the Updraft plugin as mentioned above.
